Denise Tshisikedi, wife of President Felix Tshisikedi, is the first lady of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and is an Ambassador for STEM DRC Initiative.
Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi encourages young girls to take up studies in STEM fields.
She spoke about this at a recent conference on February 18, 2020 held in honor of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

According to statistics from the database of women scientists, in 2019, the DRC has only 287 women. Of this batch, 51% of these women are in science, 25% in technology, 21% are engineers and 4% are mathematicians.
A rate that is low compared to other African countries. Hence the invitation of the first lady.
“Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) have become essential given their influence in our communities. For good reason, they shape our daily life and contribute more and more to the development of countries. I encourage young ladies to take up this path, “ she said.
